Director of Goaltender Development
Evan joined KC in 2015 to work as a goaltending coach with the U18 AAA Pats. Following that season, Evan began working with more teams and goaltenders within KC with added focus on the U15 AAA Squires.
Evan finished his playing career split between the ACAC and Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC. Between the two leagues he played out his collegiate eligibility, ultimately earning a league championship in 2011, and finishing with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from SFU in 2015. Evan currently owns Coretex Goaltender Development, providing research, resources, and teaching aids for goaltenders and coaches around the world. Evan is also a Goaltending Development 1 facilitator for Hockey Alberta, leading certification clinics across Alberta since 2016.
Evan finished a second degree in Education in 2019 and works as a full time teacher during the day. He has worked as a remote goalie coach for the Creston Thundercats in 2016, who won a bronze medal in the Cyclone Taylor Cup. In addition to his roles at KC, Evan works as a Goaltending Consultant with the Sherwood Park Crusaders in the AJHL, alongside Kurtis Mucha of the Edmonton Oil Kings.
Evan has never been shy about reaching out to connect with coaches who progress the game or have experienced it at the higher levels. In 2016 Evan won a scholarship to attend the Network Goaltending Symposium in Madison, Wisconsin where he was able to connect with elite coaches from around the world.
"My intent with this position at KC is to create a goaltender development program unlike anything else in the province. I feel there are elements of the position that have stagnated and can use an infusion of a different way of thinking to solve the problem. Creating a development plan unique to the demands of each age group is something I am extremely proud of, and am excited to implement and evolve the program over the years. This is a research-based program that draws on many different domains like economics, psychology, education, and kinesiology to name a few, as well as different countries like Finland and Russia. The mission statement holds true, as well as a desire to develop from within and provide KC families with a development model both efficacious and progressive."
